Welcome to the home of amateur photography in Wales' capital city

studioWelcome to one of Wales' oldest and leading camera clubs in the heart of the capital of Wales ~ we hope you enjoy this visit to our virtual clubroom.  

We are one of the few clubs that does not close for summer break, meeting EVERY THURSDAY at 7:30pm.  But we are so much more than just a once a week club ~ we are probably one of the most active clubs in Wales (if not the UK!!!) with numerous activities going on beyond the weekly clubroom meeting. 

We like to think that we are one of the most friendly and sociable clubs around today, finishing most evenings in The Clifton around the corner for anyone that wants to join us.  We aim to provide a varied programme of talks, events, competitions, location and studio shoots and workshops that should appeal to those who are new to photography as well the established photographer seeking an outlet for creativity and, of course, we have a warm welcome waiting for you at our real clubroom any Thursday evening.  To give a taster of the additional events

  • in September a group went to a weekend photography convention in Lampeter 
  • In July a group rented a minibus and went to Skomer Island off the Pembroke coast watching Puffins all day ~ cost was about £30
  • a group is working with a local amateur theatre company recording their rehearsals and performance archive
  • another group works with a local history re-enactment society
  • we are planning a private group extended access visit to a local wild birds centre (about £10 per head)
  • we work closely with local performance  cultural groups to capture their community performances

Dave Russelland this is all in addition to our regular schedule shown in the events section.We try to appeal to ALL levels of photographer, from the raw beginner embarking on a new interest through to the semi-professsional.  If you have just acquired a new camera and are wondering whether a club might be for you ... just some along to our events, you can find details of where to find us HERE.  We offer a no risk trial of "come along and find out what we are like" for 3 meetings before thinking about parting with your subscription.
