Cardiff vs Rhiwbina 2018
Each club was asked to submit 10 print and 10 digital images. There was a wide range of images in both sections including several mono’s – which seem to be coming back in fashion. There were also excellent portraits.
In the print section Rhiwbina started off extremely well scoring two 2o’s early on. However, Cardiff managed to pull things back with two of their images scoring 20. At the end of the round, both clubs had amassed 181 points so all to play for in the digital round.
In the digital section, Rhiwbina fought back with some strong images two of which scored maximum points compared with just one for Cardiff. At the end of the count, Rhiwbina were deserved winners with 178 points, four more than Cardiff.
Below is a record of entries (with scores) selected to represent the club in our inter-club battle against Rhiwbinacardiff v rhiwbina 2018
We are grateful to Rob for his excellent judging. Every image was critiqued in depth but in a constructive and positive way. Throughout Rob touched on some key indicators and learning points. Amongst these were …
- how best to use perspective and scale and depth of field
- the need to make a compositional adjustment when taking images of people wearing spectacles so that the eyes remain visible.
- knowing when to stop overworking an image
- how titles can be used to draw attention to what the photographer wishes the viewer to see
- the maxim that to produce art you need to know your craft first
- and the need to understand the ‘language of imagery’
We congratulate all those whose images were chosen to represent their club and especially those who obtained maximum scores (20).
